American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/AAMI ST108 Validation and Routine Panels

Routine Testing

Water is a critical component that directly impacts the quality and safety of products. Regular analysis of critical, steam, and utility water ensures that your water management system is working.

  • Critical panel: Required monthly tests, including pH, conductivity, total hardness, alkalinity, HPC, and endotoxin

  • Utility panel: Required quarterly tests, including pH, conductivity, total hardness, alkalinity, and HPC

  • Steam panel: Required quarterly tests, including pH, conductivity, total hardness, and alkalinity

Validation Testing

Beyond routine monitoring, our comprehensive validation includes full ionic panels (testing for chloride, iron, copper, and other trace metals) and total organic carbon analysis to protect high-value surgical instruments and ensure patient safety. We deliver the data-driven documentation you need to verify that your utility, critical, and steam systems meet the latest AAMI ST108 and USP 1231 standards.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Get Answers to Your Lab Testing Questions

Our subscription is a "compliance-in-a-box" solution. We ship the monthly supplies to your facility; you collect the samples and ship them back to our lab for incubation, analysis, and growth identification.

Absolutely. All lab analysis is documented in a clear, standardized format that includes data trending, specific growth counts, and pass/fail indicators to satisfy regulatory surveyors.

Yes. We offer organism identification services and consultation with our staff microbiologists to help you determine the source of contamination and develop a remediation plan.

Get your results within 48 hours after incubation completion or as early as the same day with identification-only services.

Yes. We offer full routine panels and individual tests for all water types (utility, critical, and steam) to ensure your sterile processing department meets the new standards.

ST108 categorizes water as utility, critical, or steam. Critical water requires the most frequent monitoring (monthly) due to its direct use in rinsing medical devices, while utility and steam systems are typically tested quarterly.

Validation is necessary during initial system installation, after any major repairs or modifications, or at least annually to ensure ongoing water system performance.
